Dubai has announced the citywide rollout of a one-time contactless hotel check-in solution. Setting a new global benchmark for guest comfort, security, and innovation in the hospitality sector, the initiative allows guests staying at participating hotels and holiday homes to bypass physical check-in procedures entirely.
Developed by Visit Dubai and delivered in collaboration with independent technology partners, this pioneering biometric and digital solution is now ready for immediate integration across hotels and holiday homes throughout the city. By accelerating the arrival process, the system ensures a smooth and uninterrupted guest journey. The initiative further reinforces Dubai’s ambition to position itself as a future-ready global tourism destination that prioritizes guest satisfaction and operational excellence through advanced technology.
The innovative system enables guests to complete all check-in formalities directly via their mobile phones before arriving at the hotel. With a one-time upload of identity and biometric data, the process is significantly streamlined, reducing traditional check-in times to a minimum. Upon arrival, guests can completely bypass the reception desk. The securely stored data remains usable until the ID expires, allowing quick verification—such as facial recognition—on subsequent visits. Nearly a quarter of Dubai’s annual visitors are repeat guests, and this service aims to further enhance their comfort while strengthening destination loyalty.
Commenting on the initiative, Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Visit Dubai), part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, said:
“This guest-centric innovation will remove friction from the moment travellers arrive in the city, enabling a more efficient and enjoyable start to their stay. It will also make return visits even easier for our loyal guests, while allowing hotels in Dubai to focus on delivering more meaningful and higher-quality interactions. This technology offers significant potential to further elevate service standards across the hospitality sector. We invite more investors and operators to integrate this feature into their systems.”
The solution has been designed for seamless integration into existing hotel applications and web platforms. Beyond its immediate benefits, it holds strong potential for use across other tourism touchpoints, such as car rental services, paving the way for a more integrated and personalized visitor experience citywide. It also complements other smart technologies deployed across the destination, including intelligent tunnels at Dubai International Airport that reduce passport control processing times to just seconds.
Dubai’s hospitality sector remains one of the key pillars supporting the emirate’s growth as a global destination, with 820 hotels and hotel apartments currently in operation. Complementing the city’s wider tourism offering, the sector contributed to hosting 15.70 million international overnight visitors in the first ten months of 2025 and achieving a total of 36.71 million guest nights across hotels in the emirate—representing a year-on-year increase of 5%.
